Dale Steyn bowled superbly for South Africa.
Steyn claimed four for 17 in four overs.
Imran Tahir took two for 27 in his four overs.
JP Duminy had earlier top scored for the Proteas.
Duminy cracked 86 not out from 43 balls.
Sri Lanka beat the Proteas in their opening World Cup fixture over the past weekend.
