Springboks strike gold at a chilly Kings Park
Updated | By Alain Tardin
What started out as a worrying first half turned into a great victory for the men in green and gold.
Despite a slow start to proceedings, it was Lukhanyo Am, Faf de Klerk, Aphiwe Dyantyi, and Makazole Mapimpo who managed to pull through for the Boks.
Faf de Klerk ended off the night securing "The Boks" their bonus point and the big W going into the next round.
Much was to be said about Handre Pollards kicking on the night. The number 10 missing five of his six kicks. However, the Springboks were still able to walk away with a 34-21 victory over the Pumas.
It is all over. The Springboks have started their @CastleLagerSA rugby Championship campaign with a 34-21 win over @unionargentina. Well done to both teams. #Springboks #LoveRugby #Springbokgameday #LosPumas #CastleLagerRugbyChampionship @MTNza @FNBSA @asics pic.twitter.com/k9zLx4d4sN

The Pumas have Niclas Sanches, Pablo Matera and Matias Moroni to thank for their advances over the try-line with Sanches showing great striking ability on his conversions.
New Zealand secured a 38-13 victory over Australia in Sydney in the opening match of the 2018 Rugby Championship.
South Africa will now travel to Argentina and take on the Pumas in the away leg of the fixture next week.
