Cricket

The Proteas are assured of winning the three-match T20 series in Sri Lanka.
South Africa have won the second T20 clash and now lead 2-0.
The tourists secured a 22-run victory in Hambantota yesterday.
David Miller top scored for the Proteas with 36 from 21 balls.
JP Duminy made 30 from 23 balls.
Lonwabo Tsotsobe was the pick of the South African bowlers.
Tsotsobe claimed two for 17 in four overs.
Imran Tahir also bowled nicely.
Tahir ended with figures of one for 21 in his four overs.
The third and final T20 international is scheduled for tomorrow.
Play is due to start at 15h30 in the afternoon - South African time.

Australia will start the final day of the third Ashes Test on 172 for seven in their second innings.
Australia lead England by 331 runs in Manchester.
Michael Clarke is undefeated on 30, while David Warner is out for 41.
James Anderson and Tim Bresnan have taken two wickets each.

Pirates lead AC Leopards on goal-difference at the summit.
The Buccaneers shocked Al Ahly 3-0 in Egypt yesterday.
Sifiso Myeni, Andile Jali and Thandanani Ntshumayelo scored for the Soweto giants.
Leopards also won against Egyptian opposition.
They beat Zamalek 1-0 in the Congo.
Pirates will play their next Champions League match on the 17th of this month.
That is when they will host Zamalek at Orlando Stadium.
Pirates will launch their Absa Premiership campaign this coming Thursday night.
They have a date with Amazulu in Johannesburg.
Supersport United are top of the PSL standings after the opening weekend.
They lead on goal-difference.
Others to win their opening league matches were Maritzburg United, Sundowns, Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs.
Golden Arrows drew 1-1 with Ajax Cape Town.

Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, is planning to resume the coaching courses he started in 2010.
Ferdinand says he is seriously considering football management after his playing career is over.
Ferdinand took a break from his coaching studies to focus on his recovery from back injuries.
The defender will turn 35 later this year.

South Africa have ended the FINA World Championships with five swimming medals.
Three of them are gold.
Chad le Clos secured two golds in Barcelona.
South Africa had to settle for just two medals at the 2011 World Championships.
Many of our top swimmers will be back in action soon with the FINA World Cup series starting in Eindhoven this week.

Golf

Tiger Woods has won his eighth WGC Bridgestone Invitational title.
Woods ended seven shots clear in Ohio yesterday.
Richard Sterne was the best of the South African golfers.
Sterne secured a share of ninth spot.
He finished 11 strokes adrift of champion Woods.
Charl Schwartzel tied for 21st.
He ended 16 shots off the pace.

Tennis

Sam Stosur has won the Southern California Open.
Stosur beat Victoria Azarenka 6-2 6-3 in the final.
