Kevin Anderson featured in an ATP Tour final on Sunday, while Cameron van der Burgh and Chad Ho both saw action in Barcelona.

Tennis

Kevin Anderson has lost in the final of the Atlanta Open.
Top seed, John Isner, defeated Anderson 6-7 7-6 7-6.
Anderson was the second seed in Atlanta.
The final was the tallest in the history of the ATP Tour.
Isner is six-foot-ten and Anderson six-foot-eight.
The win earned Isner 99-thousand dollars..while Anderson had to settle for 52-thousand dollars.

Surfing

Jordy Smith has been beaten in the quarter-finals at the Vans US Open of Surfing in California.
Smith was eliminated by Australian surfer, Matt Banting, at Huntington Beach.
Banting lost his semi-final heat to eventual champion Alejo Muniz.
Bianca Buitendag reached the quarter-finals of the ladies contest in California.
She was ousted by world number one Tyler Wright.
Buitendag won the junior final at Huntington Beach over the past weekend.

Cricket

Sri Lanka have taken a winning 3-1 lead in the one-day international series against South Africa.
Sri Lanka won the fourth of five one-day internationals by eight wickets in Pallekele last night.
Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara both batted superbly for the home side.
Dilshan cracked 115 not out, while Sangakkara was dismissed for 91.
JP Duminy had earlier top scored for the Proteas with 97.
Hashim Amla made 77, while David Miller was bowled for just one.
Ajantha Mendis was the most successful Sri Lankan bowler.
Mendis took four for 51 in his nine overs and four balls.
The fifth and final ODI is scheduled for Colombo on Wednesday.
South Africa will also play three T20 internationals on this tour of Sri Lanka.

Rugby

Glenwood and Maritzburg College have both lost their latest rugby outings.
The KZN schools were beaten by Pretoria rivals over the past weekend.
Affies defeated Glenwood 53-23, while Pretoria Boys secured a 30-16 victory over College. Glenwood will host College this coming weekend.

Craig Joubert will referee the Vodacom Super Rugby final this coming weekend.
It will see the Chiefs up against the Brumbies in Hamilton.

Swimming

Cameron van der Burgh has secured a spot in the 100-metres breaststroke final at the FINA World Championships in Barcelona.
The South African swimmer currently holds the 100-metres breaststroke world record.
The final will take place tonight.
Chad Ho just missed out on a medal in the final of the five-kilometre open water swim yesterday.
Ho, a former Westville Boys learner, ended fourth.
Myles Brown had to be satisfied with sixth in the 400-metres freestyle final in Barcelona, while Roland Schoeman failed to qualify for the 50-metres butterfly final.
Karin Prinsloo and Tara Nicholas are both scheduled for action later today.

Soccer

Reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur are yet to respond to a Real Madrid bid for Gareth Bale.
Several media organisations are claiming that Real have made an offer of 100-million euros for the Spurs player.
Meanwhile, Gareth Barry believes the coming season could well be his last at Manchester City.
Barry says manager, Manuel Pellegrini, has told him that he forms part of his plans, but that City are yet to speak to him about a contract extension.

The Absa Premiership season will start on Friday night.
Kaizer Chiefs and Mpumalanga Aces will contest the opening match in Mbombela. Kickoff is at 8pm.

Golf

Rory Sabbatini has secured a share of 12th spot at the Canadian Open.
The South African golfer ended six strokes adrift of winner Brandt Snedeker.
Ernie Els and Trevor Immelman were both eight shots off the pace in Canada.

Motorsport

Sebastian Vettel has a lead of 38 points in the Formula One championship.
This after ending third in Hungary yesterday.
Kimi Raikkonen is second in the standings.
The season will continue in Belgium on the 25th of next month.
