Logie beat new world championship leader, Mick Fanning, in fifth round action at Trestles.
Logie later lost to Michel Bourez in the quarter-finals.
Smith made it through to the semi-finals.
He was then defeated by eventual champion Taj Burrow.
Smith is now third in the world title race. Fanning is top and Kelly Slater second.
