Shad success at Umhlanga
Updated | By Andre Bloem
Small shad are being caught in the early mornings at Umhlanga.
Shad are taking both spoons and bait.
The Durban piers have been fairly quiet of late, but the Sunkist Pier saw a few small grunter being caught.
The venue is also producing a few lesser sand sharks.
The Bluff has seen some success for anglers targeting kingfish. The rocks can make them difficult to land with heavy tackle recommended for Brighton Beach. The kingfish generally take live bait like karranteen, blacktail and shad. They are also known to chomp the occasional spoon.

It should be between 14 and 28 degrees again in Durban today and we may be in for a misty start.
It is likely to be a great day for the beach.
