Shad are biting at Umgeni
The Umgeni north bank has produced some good shad lately and fish as big has 1kg have been landed.
Other good winter fish that are coming out now are small kob, grunter and some very nice stumpies. We have received news of stumpies of up to 4kg being caught.
The flatfish action has slowed down dramatically.
The 2013 Cool Shoe South African Surfing Championships will take place at Durban’s New Pier from June 27 to 30. Eight provincial teams will be involved.
The heats will start at 8am on Thursday June 27 and the finals will be completed before midday on Sunday June 30. The schedule is available on www.surfingsouthafrica.co.za
We are in for another awesome day on our beaches with clear skies and a maximum of 24 degrees Celsius predicted for Tuesday. WNW winds of up to 37 km/hr are expected to blow this morning with onshores later. We may see some fairly solid swell today with Windguru predicting 3m at 15 seconds.
