The national team will be playing against Sudan in this Saturday's Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

"It was very important for us as players to go and pay our respects to Senzo and his family. It is a very humbling moment for us to be there and listen to the words of the minister and Senzo's father. It was a really touching moment and a real honour to have known Senzo, to have played with Senzo. It was great that we could go and pay our respects and hopefully on Saturday we can make him proud," Furman said.

"We know Senzo is watching down on us. We want to go and do the job that he started and was leading us to do. We want to go compete in his name," he added.

Furman said the upcoming match will be a tribute to the former captain.

"I was in complete shock as everyone else was. It was total and utter devastation. I just couldn't believe it. I made a couple of phone calls to find out if it was true and not just a rumour. It was devastating and hard to believe. It will take a while to sink in. I hope we can make him proud on the field on Saturday," Furman concluded.
