Senatla shines in Paris opener
Updated | By Gareth Jenkinson
Seabelo Senatla scored four
tries against England to equal a Blitzbok record in last night's 24-5 win in
the opening match of the Paris Sevens.
Senatla scored all of his side's tries in their opening win of the tournament. In doing so, he equaled Fabian Juries' record of four tries in a single match.
The win boosts the chances of the Springbok Sevens getting into the Cup playoffs – as they eye victory in the tournament to claim crucial points on the Series log.
The Blitzboks will face Brazil at 12h42 on Saturday afternoon before their final pool clash with Australia at 16h15.
After their opening victory, captain Philip Snyman hailed his team’s ability to make a comeback after being 5 points down.
“We ticked most boxes today, but not all. We still need to be more aggressive at ruck time, but we did create some space on attack and that resulted in a number of good tries. We needed to build some sort of foundation and it was important for it to be solid, so that we can continue on that tomorrow and Sunday.”
The Blitzbokke are currently second on the HSBC Sevens Series standings.
