Sekola wears PSL golden boot
Updated | By Nondumiso Zakwe
It was a season where Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates players failed to nail the top two places on the list which was occupied by players from mid-table teams for most of the season.
Cuthbert Malajila, along with Pirates duo Kermit Erasmus and Lehlohonolo Majoro, were the only forwards to make it into the top ten from the top three biggest PSL sides in the country.
PSL champions, Amakhosi, had no players break into the top ten, Bernard Parker, Mandla Masango and George Lebese were the closest to get into the top ten but were two goals shy of being listed.
The notable and exciting factor is that four players surpassed Parker’s golden boot tally of last year which was 10 goals in the 30-match format.
The surprise player to make the list was SuperSport United’s Jeremy Brockie who joined the club in the January transfer window.
The New Zealand international appeared 13-times in the Premiership and has already broken the 1 000 mark in minutes played in the PSL.
