Durban surfer, Travis Logie, has lost his fifth round heat at the Billabong Rio Pro.
Logie was eliminated Kolohe Andino.
Jordy Smith was beaten in the quarter-finals in Brazil.
Michel Bourez proved too good for the South African.
Smith won the title in Rio last year.
