The livewire scrummy was seen watching the Sharks practice at Growthpoint Kings Park on Thursday, just a day ahead of the Bok team announcement.
Sharks coach Gary Gold said that Reinach would be available to the Durban outfit if he was omitted from the Bok World Cup team.
“Possibly, it does seem a bit strange that he is here at the moment now. Obviously the announcement will be made but I would imagine he wouldn’t be hanging around here if he was in the Springboks' plans, which is terribly disappointing for him,” Gold said at a Sharks press conference on Thursday.
“There are guys who were always going to lose out, it’s a tough place for Heyneke at the moment and my feelings are with him – we were there four years ago. It’s terribly sad to have to leave players out, especially those of his calibre.”
“If it he does get left out it will be the Springboks loss and our gain. I don’t mean that in a derogatory way, they’ve got to do what they’ve got to do but it will be our gain,” the coach said.
