Putting nightmare for Els at Masters
Updated | By Gareth Jenkinson
Just a day after nine aces were scored at the Par-3 Contest at Augusta, Ernie Els had a nightmare start on hole one of the Masters.
Els ended six shots over par on the first hole with what will probably be his worst-ever display with a putter.
Landing on the green, the veteran South African had a pretty straight forward putt into the hole, which he botched not once but six times.
He managed to salvage his opening round, but still ended up 8 over par at the end of day one.
Check out Els' blunder:
Meanwhile Jordan Spieth ended the day on 6 under par, opening a two shot lead over Danny Lee and Shane Lowry.
Louis Oosthuizen is the best placed South African going into round two but is six shots off the pace.
