Proteas management brainstorm
Updated | By Staff Writer
The Proteas management team rounded-off the Cricket SA (CSA) Coaching Conference earlier today, with an overview of the national team's vision and strategy.
The presentation, led by Proteas head coach Russell Domingo, was an opportunity to discuss a collective vision between the national set-up and the lower structures.
Domingo said every coach, regardless of the level at which he or she was employed, was vital in building a strong national team.
"The coaches attending the workshop are big role players for cricket in South Africa," he said in Pretoria."They develop the players who will one day represent South Africa, so it was important for us (management) to share our strategy and vision to make sure we are on the same wavelength. It was great to create constructive debate amongst the delegates and to get an understanding of the thinking of some of the top coaches in the country."
Domingo added that the country's entire cricketing structure should align, in order to bring the best out of South Africa's pool of talent.
"If our domestic coaches have a better understanding of our expectations and requirements at national level, that can only bode well for the quality of players we have coming through."
In addition, Domingo touched on the current state of SA's Test squad and ways to maintain their number one ranking, as well as the one day international squad and the expectations for the 2015 World Cup.
