Prediction: top 3, bottom 2 in 2015/16 PSL season
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
Here are the the teams that I think will finish in the top three:
1. Mamelodi Sundowns
After the team failed to defend the title last season, missing out to Kaizer Chiefs from whom they had pipped in the closing stages two seasons ago, they will be seeking redemption.
Sundowns is an experienced side when it comes to performing consistently. They have a good, solid squad which has been together for a while.
The signing of Keagan Dolly adds depth. He is a young, talented player who still wants to make a name for himself.
Their early exit from the MTN8 is also a blessing in disguise. It will help them focus on the league. The Brazilians will be crowned the champions come the end of the season.
2. Bidvest Wits
They have managed a top four finish in three consecutive seasons. This time they will be challenging for the title.
The Students have a great coach in Gavin Hunt, who has won the league three seasons in a row with Supersport United.
The acquisition of experienced campaigners like Daine Klate and Elias Pelembe, both who have won the league a few times with their previous clubs, will give them the much-needed boost.
Keeping Sibisiso Vilakazi who has done exceptionally well at the club for the past couple of seasons will ensure continuity.
Wits will be the runners-up.
3. Kaizer Chiefs
The team has lost a key player, Tefu Mashamaite, who scooped the Footballer of the Season Award last season.
The former Amakhosi captain hardly put a foot wrong and he marshalled the solid team defence.
Stuart Baxter's departure has also left a huge void and the new coach in the shape of Steve Komphela will not find it easy to settle in.
After Kingston Nkhatha left for Supersport United, Chiefs' strike-force started to show some signs of being weak and had it not been for already having opened a huge gap between them and the chasing pack, they would have failed to cling on to the top spot.
Here are the two teams that I think will be relegated:
15. Free State Stars
What seems to have eluded a lot of people is that Stars were in the relegation zone until Moeketsi Sekola, the league's top scorer last season, hit top form.
They have not made any convincing signings to avoid a repeat of that.
You cannot rely on one player for sustainable results. Ea Lla Koto will be playing off for a place in the PSL at the end of next season.
16. Chippa United
Once again the Chilli Boys have reappointed Roger Sikhakhane - they have had over 10 coaches since 2012.
The chairman, Chippa Mpengesi, seems to always make radical decisions when he is under pressure.
Last season they managed to avoid relegation on the final day of the season and this time around they are going down.
