PHOTO: Seal hammers huge kob
Updated | By Staff Writer
Shawn Mey caught a monster kob near Mosselbay in the Southern Cape recently.
The fish weighed 72 kgs - only 1.5 kgs short of the South African record.
Unfortunately, a seal hammered the fish during the battle and badly damaged its fins.
This made it impossible for Mey to successfully release the kob.
This is certainly the largest kob I have ever seen.
My biggest kob weighed 11kgs and was caught on live karanteen at Brighton Breach on the Bluff.
The specimen below could have had my catch for lunch.
