Pillay used live shad as bait and hooked the fish at around 11h30 on Sunday morning.
The fight lasted about 40 minutes.
The fish was caught on the North Bank at a spot known as Olivers Rock.
Pillay was fishing in overcast conditions and a slight drizzle at the time.
Amanzimtoti also produced a big kob recently. It weighed over 30kgs.
Bronze bream and cave bass have been biting on the Bluff over the past week.
