OPINION: Mayweather will smash McGregor
Updated | By Sky Tshabalala
It's the fight everyone has been waiting for - Conor McGregor against Floyd Mayweather Jnr on Saturday, 26th August in Las Vegas.
It's finally here and all the trash will mean nothing inside that ring. On paper, it's a no brainer.
I mean Mayweather has been doing this for 21 years and has an unbelievable record of 49 professional fights and 49 wins. He has never been beaten.
Mosley tried, Canelo tried, Pacquiao tried and they all failed - Mayweather always wins. It's like an unofficial rule of boxing that when Mayweather fights he wins.
I believe that will not change this Saturday. People are talking about the 8-ounce gloves, Mayweather is too old and that he is not taking this seriously. Well, I have news for you. Mayweather is a beast when he's inside the ring.
Winning is in his DNA and that ego he carries around is not by default. He earned it through blood, sweat, and tears.
Mayweather is too proud to just take a massive paycheck and lose. No, he will make sure he does what no other man has done and that's to go 50 - 0.
Can McGregor handle 12 rounds of intense 3mins of boxing? Can Connor handle that right hook? Can he even land a lunch on Mayweather?
In the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, the Filipino threw 429 punches and only landed 81. You can't touch Mayweather. He simply is a genius.
Alvarez landed 22% of his punches against Mayweather, after landing 42% in his previous 7 fights.
So, tell me an MMA fighter who has never been in a boxing ring will outbox or outsmart the greatest defensive boxer of all time.
In short, I believe that this is a catwalk for Mayweather. Round 6/7 - it's over for the Notorious.
