Ngidi fit and raring to go
Updated | By Myron Naicker
Lungi Ngidi has passed a fitness test and is raring to go ahead of the Proteas match against New Zealand in Edgbaston on Wednesday.
It has been a frustrating two weeks on the sidelines for Ngidi who picked up a hamstring strain against Bangladesh at the Oval.
On Monday morning, the 23-year-old went through a rigorous one-on-one session with Proteas coach, Ottis Gibson.
“I have been alright, just a bit frustrated that I couldn’t play," Ngidi said.
“I am 100%, it was the hardest I could go,” he said about the session with Gibson.
Ngidi is expected to slot straight back into the team with Beuran Hendricks dropping out for him.

“The one thing I have always been told by Ottis is to hold my length. I didn't do that in the first game against England, so that's probably the one thing I need to do, just making sure I am putting batsmen under pressure,” Ngidi said.
The Black Caps are undefeated in the tournament and are second on the table, with seven points from four games.
Ngidi says preparations for Kane Williamson’s team are going well.
“We still going to look at them properly in our team meetings,” Ngidi said.
“So far at the moment their middle and lower order hasn't been tested. Maybe take one or two up front and get the middle order in and we could be looking at a different situation,” he concluded.
