Murray has played in just three tournaments in 2021, a year that has been hampered by a groin strain, however he is still looking to compete in the French Open at the end of May before he shifts to the grass court season in June.

No player has won the singles title at Queens as many times as Murray who has name engraved on the trophy five times, the most recent being in 2016 – the year he completed his second Queens/Wimbledon double.

Following career-threatening hip surgery, Murray then returned to Queens to win the doubles title in 2019 with Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.

It is a venue and a tournament that Murray holds very close to his heart and is excited to be back to compete this year.

It’s been such a difficult time for everyone and it will be great to play in front of home fans in Britain again," Murray told AFP.

"The tournament at Queen's has always meant a lot to me -- it's where I won my first ATP match.

"I've won the singles at Queen's more than any other in my career, and I'll never forget our doubles title in 2019. I can't wait to get back out there."

As Murray prepares for his clay court season, he is training with Novak Djokovic and Diego Shwartzman in Rome as both players have byes through the first round at the Italian Open.

It’s giving the Scot an opportunity to see where he is physically and he believes he’ll improve his game quicker if he trains at the highest level possible.
