MT Sports hit with Sundowns summons over Pitso
Updated | By Nick Tatham
MT Sports Marketing and Management, the company that
represent Pitso Mosimane, have confirmed that they have received a multi-million
rand summons from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The company said in a statement on Monday that they were aware of the summons from the club and felt that it was a situation that didn’t need to be made public.
The summons comes from the club following the shock exit of Mosimane from Masandawana to take up the coaching position at Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
It’s believed the club are suing MT Sports and Mosimane over the commission received following the renewal of Mosimane's four year contract at Sundowns.
MT Sports have not been able to receive a concrete response from the club.
"We have received communication from Mamelodi Sundowns and have attempted to reach an amicable solution to this matter‚ however they have not responded to our request to meet with us,” their statement read.
"We attempted to speak to then club president Dr Patrice Motsepe in January this year‚ and we were refused‚ and also last week with chairman Tlhopane Motsepe‚ we were met with silence.
At the time of Mosimane’s resignation it was believed that he received the backing of club owner and then chairman Motsepe.
"The summons and the media leaks put into disrepute Dr Motsepe’s blessings on the termination of the contracts‚ and well-wishes on Coach Pitso joining Al Ahly S.C last year.
"In his own words‚ Dr Motsepe said 'I have on several occasions‚ over the past few years‚ expressed my support for Pitso Mosimane leaving Sundowns to coach in North Africa or Europe or Bafana Bafana,” the company statement added.
MT Sport are hoping that the club will come to the party and respond to their requests. However, should that not happen they will not back down.
"We‚ as MT Sports and Coach Pitso‚ are grateful to Mamelodi Sundowns for the years he spent there and would not like this glorious legacy to be soiled by tussles that could easily and rapidly be handled professionally and privately.
"We hope sanity will prevail and that this will be resolved amicably. However, if this is not possible we will be happy to meet Mamelodi Sundowns in court."
