Michaelhouse setting the pace
Updated | By Staff Writer
Bar a calamity and some results among the other three top tier schools not going their way, the team from Balgowan will feature in the final on Friday evening, 14 February at The Oval.
Michaelhouse beat College with consummate ease, first racking up an impressive 183/3 in their allotted overs, before dismissing the opposition for 87 with three overs to spare for a 103-run win.
The win over St Charles was less emphatic. Michaelhouse posted 126 and then restricted St Charles to 97 all out to win by 29 runs.
The difference is the powerful Michaelhouse batting line-up with Bradley Roberts smashing 80 off 51 deliveries and Jason Marshall scoring 37 (30 balls) against College, before Brandon Tattam 49 (off 26 balls) and Bruce Kennedy 35 helped to put away St Charles.
The two teams with the most points will advance to Friday evening's top billing final. Friday evening's curtain-raiser will see Cordwalles taking on Merchiston in the primary schools final, while Howick meets Treverton in the secondary schools final on Thursday, 13 February at The Oval at 3pm.
In earlier action, defending primary schools champions Winterton crushed Scottsville Primary, but lost to a rampant Cordwalles in the semi-final. In the other semi-final, Merchiston defeated St Charles.
