Markram: Still lots to play for at World Cup
Updated | By Myron Naicker
The Proteas have three games left at the World Cup to salvage some pride and leave the United Kingdom with their heads held high.
There are a few permutations floating around, and mathematically they are not out of the tournament just yet but that is not their focus at the moment insists Aiden Markram.
The Proteas top-order batsman says they are not mulling over a complex way back into contention but rather looking forward to their clash against Pakistan at Lords on Sunday.
“Look, the mood, naturally it was a bit down, but I think we've done a bit of our sulking and moping around,” Markram said.

“The energy in the changing room since we've been here is really good, and I also think it helps that our families arrived yesterday.”
“So the guys are feeling slightly more refreshed for the next three games.”
Markram has for a long time been touted as a future leader and could very well skipper the team at the next World Cup.
Despite South Africa’s poor showing, Markram says he has enjoyed the experience.

“It's been tough because of the result, but looking past that, it's been one really cool experience. To play cricket on the biggest stage in the world is quite a privilege, and to be playing for your country, is just a privilege, Markram said.
“Like I mentioned, by no means are we just going to lay down and roll over. We are going to compete as hard as we can for the next three games with the focus on winning all three of them and seeing how far it can take us,” he concluded.
