The wait for the 2022 Formula 1 season is finally over as the teams are preparing for the opening race at the Sakhir Circuit in Bahrain this weekend. Listen to the first episode of Track This for everything you need to know ahead of Sunday's season opener Grand Prix.
The
question on everyone’s mind is will Lewis Hamilton be able to get his
record-breaking 8th World Drivers Championship or will Max Verstappen
defend his title?
Pre-season
testing has not answered many questions as fans are still uncertain on the
teams’ true performance. A surprise, however, was seen in the Ferrari pits when
the team showed great reliability and even better performance.
Popular South African F1 commentator Kriya
Gangiah is joined by racing experts Tschops Sipuka and Tasmin Pepper to unpack
the events of pre-season testing and look forward to Bahrain in the first episode of Track This, a new podcast released by our sister station Jacaranda FM.
Listen to episode 1 below.
In the Track This podcast series, Kriya will be joined by a panel of industry experts, passionate
fans, and knowledgeable guests as they unpack each race of the season, and
answer F1's most pressing questions every Thursday.
Kriya's no stranger to the South African F1 scene and is a
massive petrol-head. She hosted Absolute F1 on Supersport, recently
hosted the 2022 Kyalami 9-hour event, and currently presents ‘Tuned In SA’ on
Ignition TV.
Joining the podcast panel is race car driver Batshobonke "Tschops" Sipuka. Tschops famously competed in the Formula Volkswagen class in Germany, saloon car racing in Malaysia, and Super Truck racing in South Africa. Tschops was also South Africa's first black motorsport champion, winning the Volkswagen Polo Cup Series twice.
Tasmin Pepper - who made headlines as the first woman to win a Formula VW championship race in South Africa and competed in the Wseries as one of the top 18 female drives chosen from around the world, also joins the podcast panel.
