Liverpool confirm Gerrard offer

Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers, said today the club has offered Steven Gerrard a new contract.

Rodgers has also denied rumours of a rift between him and the Liverpool captain.

Rodgers revealed that Gerrard will be given time to consider the new deal offered to him.

Gerrard, who is 34, only has a contract running until the end of the current season.

Liverpool are currently 11th in the English Premiership standings.

The Reds have a league date with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium tomorrow night.

Manchester United are also on the Premiership menu tomorrow.

The Red Devils will host Stoke City at Old Trafford.

Other matches in the English Premiership tomorrow include Burnley up against Newcastle United and Crystal Palace at home to Aston Villa.

Manchester City have a league assignment at Sunderland on Wednesday and have doubts about the fitness of Vincent Kompany.

The City skipper experienced discomfort in his hamstring during the win over Southampton yesterday.
