Shad fishing has improved at both St Lucia and Cape Vidal recently with some nice specimens landed.

The shad caught up north have been generally bigger than their cousins in the Durban area.

We have also heard reports of shad and garrick being landed in the Mapelane area.

Richards Bay anglers have also enjoyed some great catches of garrick and shad lately.

Ballito and Zinkwazi seem to be having a fair shad run of their own and the current largest shad in the Kingfisher Biggest Shad Competition was caught at Zinkwazi. The odd bronze bream has also been caught in this area.

Although there are still kingfish around the Umdloti area, they are few and far between with only a handful coming out last week. The area is producing some nice stumpnose in the 4 kg range in late evening sessions.

It promises to be a gorgeous Wednesday on the east coast with a high of 32 degrees in Durban. We have clear skies and light variable winds which will swing to NE later.
