Kob landed in Port Edward

The big fish are in Port Edward and the Shad are going ballistic, according to Terry Net from Tacklenet.Garrick are on the bite and Mike Beisner landed a 9,7kg Pignose Grunter.Kob are also being caught and one fish weighed in at 22kg.

Don’t forget the UGU South Coast Tourism Africa Marine Expo angling events are on this weekend starting with Saturday’s Catch & Release Deep Sea Fishing Competition.

Then this Sunday August 4, is the Family Fun Junior Catch & Release Shore Fishing Competition, event organiser Dean Pretorius says that “the object of this event is fun, and to teach kids the correct handling of fish and instil in them a catch and release ethic at an early age”. Registration will take place at 7am in the Marine Expo Tent on Scottburgh Back Beach, and will begin at 8:30am.

Anyone interested in the sardine run should attend the Africa Marine Expo, you will get to see with your own eyes the difference between red eye and the real Natal sardine “sardinops sagax” and chat to UKZN marine biologists at the Marine Evolution Lab Stand and speak to other scientists about the research that they are doing and their thoughts on this year’s run.

We have just had two days of perfect late winter surf, even though the North easterly was howling yesterday it may be worth checking this morning before the NE sets in again until Friday afternoon! Its going to be a gorgeous day with clear skies and a maximum temperature of 23 degrees in Durban!
