Last week, former Springbok loose forward Smith confirmed to Rapport that he’d love to finish his career at the Cheetahs once his contract runs out at French club Toulon.
The 34-year-old’s last Super Rugby game for the Cheetahs was in 2011 when he tore his Achilles tendon against the Bulls.
“I would like to spend my last season with Free State. I’m going to play in France for one more year and if my body allows it, I’ll retire in the Free State after that,” said Smith.
Mohoje believes the 70-Test veteran would add value to the Cheetahs squad, should he return.
“I saw the reports of Juan saying he’d love to finish his career at the Cheetahs. I think he’d be a great addition to the squad,” Mohoje told MyPlayers.
“He’d return with plenty of experience and leadership, which he can pass on to the players around him. He’s been a great servant of Cheetahs rugby throughout his career and many of the current players would learn a lot from him. He’d inspire the squad.”
