Jordy v Toledo in quarters

Jordy Smith will face Brazilian surfer, Filipe Toledo, in his quarter-final heat at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.

Smith qualified directly for the quarter-finals by winning his fourth round encounter with Toledo and Mick Fanning on Monday.

Toledo, second in the heat won by Smith, advanced courtesy of his fifth round victory over CJ Hobgood.

Fanning will meet Adriano de Souza in the quarter-finals, while Taj Burrow has a quarter-final date with Kai Otton.

The remaining quarter-final will be contested by Willian Cardoso and Nat Young.

Cardoso had earlier eliminated Kelly Slater in third round action.

Joel Parkinson also lost in the third round at Bells this morning.

The defending world champion was ousted by Raoni Monteiro.

Parkinson lost despite a score of 19.10.
