Horn equals 25-year-old record
Horn posted a time of 11.06 to win her heat at the World Challenge meeting on Saturday to equal the 25-year-old national 100m record held by Evette de Klerk.
"It was the perfect race I've been waiting for, so I am really happy about it and I am really happy about the time," Horn said.
"I don't think it really sunk in yet but I am really happy.
"I think I am on the right track and I hope and believe the fast races will come."
Although the headlines have been dominated by the South African male sprinters' record-breaking antics, Horn has been threatening to get a piece of the action.
Last month Horn shaved 0.1 seconds off her previous best of 11.17 to edge closer to De Klerk’s national mark.
Horn again went faster than her previous best in the final race in Madrid where she clocked 11.10 for the bronze medal.
Jamaica's Elaine Thompson crossed the line first with a new meeting record time of 10.90 with American Barbara Pierre taking silver with 11.05.
"The final could have been better but my body said no and I have to respect my body," the Tuks athlete said.
The 26-year-old Horn has been in consistent form in 2014 where she posted a time of 11.21 and 11.17 in European meetings.
The Austrian-based athlete said some adjustments to her starts made all the difference.
"We decided to find another trigger point in the start because the reaction was slow," she said.
