Steven Gerrard will leave Liverpool at the end of the current season.

Gerrard is already free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club.

It is believed there is keen interest in Gerrard from three American franchises.

The veteran midfielder will not move to another English club.

Gerrard made his Liverpool debut in 1998 and scored both goals in their 2-2 Premiership draw with Leicester City yesterday.

Chelsea lost in the league last night and now share top spot with Manchester City.

Chelsea and City are level on points and have the same goal-difference.

Tottenham Hotspur beat Chelsea 5-3 at White Hart Lane, while City were 3-2 winners over Sunderland.

Frank Lampard, Yaya Toure and Stevan Jovetic netted for the defending champions at the Etihad.

Arsenal lost at Sunderland and Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at Stoke City.

Everton are down to 13th in the standings. Hull City defeated the Toffees 2-0 yesterday.

Newcastle United and Burnley drew 3-3 at St James's Park.

It ended goalless between Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, while there were also draws between Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City and West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion.

Leicester, Burnley and Palace are currently in the relegation zone.

The top two have home games in the FA Cup this Sunday.

Chelsea will meet Watford, while City will be up against Sheffield Wednesday.

Manchester United, third in the league, have an FA Cup date with Yeovil Town on Sunday.
