Faf: Our backs are against the wall
Updated | By Myron Naicker
Proteas captain Faf Du Plessis says their approach ahead of the clash with Afghanistan on Saturday afternoon is clear.
With five games remaining and only one point on the board, the Proteas find themselves in a challenging position but a win in Cardiff will certainly lighten the mood.
"We've got to win the five games and that clarity is what we're trying to achieve," Du Plessis said at the pre-match press conference at the Sophia Gardens Stadium.
It is the first time South Africa will play Afghanistan in a fifty over match. They have played two T20’s previously which the Proteas went on to win.

"There was a bit of space for us to make a mistake here or there before, but now everyone has written the team off, our backs are against the wall.
Du Plessis says the week in Cardiff gave him the opportunity to chat to players on a one-on-one basis as they seek to turnaround their fortunes.
“Week one was a bad start to the tournament but that's done now. We have got to put all our energy and focus into the now and what's coming up next,” he said.

"But the conversations in the last couple of days, especially with all the rain around, has given me more time to make sure that the guys are on the right path."
"I truly believe that if we carry those ghosts of the last week with us, it's going to be tough to get out of the hole,” Du Plessis concluded.
