EGGHEADS Premier League predictions: Spurs to reveal their new stadium
The action continues as a round of five-midweek games is on offer, close on the heels of a brilliant weekend of football. City knows they have to beat Cardiff to go top of the League and make their game in hand to Liverpool count, whilst Spurs reveal their brand new stadium.
Wolves v Manchester United
Wolves, rather uncharacteristically, just looked really flat in their game at Turf Moor at the weekend. The Pack succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against relegation threatened Burnley, but I doubt there is any reason to panic. United had a more successful weekend beating Watford 2-1 in Ole’s coronation day fixture, although I think they were lucky in what was a really disappointing lacklustre performance at Old Trafford.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Watford v Fulham
Watford will feel they let themselves down after their showing against Manchester United, with the Hornets coming away with nothing to show for their positive performance. No question the Hornets are having a seriously impressive season – albeit under the radar. A win on Tuesday evening could see them in 7th place in the League and with an FA Cup semi-final at the weekend, there is much reason for optimism at Vicarage Road.
Fulham will have much less ambitious goals in mind, they would be (and rightfully so) disappointed with their season – especially after the amount of money invested. Defeat here would relegate Fulham to Championship football, and I think that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
Prediction: 3 – 1
Chelsea v Brighton
I know this isn’t going to be the most popular opinion around, but Chelsea were lucky to get a win against Cardiff at the weekend! I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed poor officiating in a Premier League game like that before.
I feel a little for Maurizio Sarri, the Italian just doesn’t look like someone enjoying life right now and I think it’s just a matter of time before he’s shown the door. On a lighter note though, Brighton have never taken a league point of Chelsea when the two play each other, and I don’t think that changes much this week.
Prediction: 2 - 1
Manchester City v Cardiff
I know that Neil Warnock suggested he’s going to play his U23 side and ‘attempt to keep it down to 10 or 11’ but I don’t buy that for a second. He’ll know how important having a real go at City is for their quest to survive the drop – and he’s just too good of a manager not to give his side every opportunity.
Nonetheless, I think City will have too much for this Cardiff side. I don’t think it’s going to be a hiding but there’s no way this ends any other way than with a home win.
Prediction: 3 – 1
Spurs v C Palace
Spurs do need to be weary of Palace on Wednesday evening, once again Mauricio Pocchettino’s side are falling flat as the season begins to come to an end. They were out of the title race by February and their domestic form just looks dire.
Palace will be disappointed with their position in the League, personally, I put that down to their home form (you just have to be better at home if you want to remain competitive in this League), but it’s away from home they have been really impressive.
Spurs play this game in their brand new stadium, and the change of fortune could be exactly what Spurs need. However, surely it does add a little pressure on the home side to come away with a victory?
