Almost more than 6000 pupils from various schools in KwaZulu-Natal will participate in the Provincial Top Schools Tournament to determine who will represent KZN in the 2013 National School Sports Championship.

The event will take place at Sahara Kingsmead Cricket Stadium starting tomorrow and ending on Sunday 13 October, the opening ceremony will get underway from 13:00-15:00.

This is a joint venture between the Department of Sport and Recreation and the Department of Education which seeks to revive sport in schools and encourage young people to participate in sport.

The Provincial Top Schools Tournament is a culmination of a year-long school sports drive to include all schools in the leagues that take place at local and district level, bringing together top schools in different sports codes.

Participating sporting codes that form part of the tournament are soccer, athletics, chess, cricket, gymnastics, hockey, rugby, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, and jukskei, as well as disability sport in some of the codes.

The games will be played at various venues in central Durban including Kings Parks Athletics Stadium, UKZN Howard College, Cato Manor Grounds and Glenwood High School.
