Durban rugby weekend: road closures

Rugby fans are gearing up for a big sporting weekend as the Castle Incoming Tour 2013 heads to Durban. The Springboks take on Italy at the Growthpoint Kings Park Stadium tomorrow. Kick off is at 5:15pm. Scotland will also go head to head with Samoa. That match gets underway at 2:15pm. There will be road closures in the Kings Park precinct tomorrow. Those who are not attending the rugby, have been advised to by-pass the stadium precinct.
Road Closures

Isaiah Ntshangase Road (Walter Gilbert Road) will be closed for vehicular traffic from Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (NMR Avenue) to Umgeni Road from 12pm to 9pm. However the physically challenged who park in front of the Shark Cage may enter via Umgeni Road.
Jacko Jackson Drive will be one-way from Goble Road to Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (NMR Avenue) from 6am until 11pm. Only parking permit holders will be permitted access.
Parking Areas
There is no “pay on the day” parking in the immediate Growthpoint Kings Park precinct. However parking is available at the parking area opposite the Swimming pool entrance in Battery Beach Road.
On-street parking Available in Umgeni, Livingstone, Adrain, Windermere and Percy Osborne Roads on the west side of the stadium. Parking is also available on Snell Parade, in the vicinity of the Durban Country Club Beach area and the Blue Lagoon and the beachfront.
Drop Off Points
From north areas: NMR Avenue (East side) by Durban Country Club pedestrian gate. Access to the stadium from the Archery Club (Gate F). Pick-up point same area.
From City area: Please be aware that Walter Gilbert Road will be closed to traffic at Umgeni Road; therefore, drop off point No. 1 is Umgeni Road and Walter Gilbert intersection. Drop off No. 2 is Walter Gilbert Road by Virgin Active gym, entry from NMR Avenue only.

Turnstiles open: 12pm
1st international: 2:15pm
Main match: 17:15
Traffic Congestion
There will be congestion in the area. We appeal to the rugby spectators to arrive at the stadium area early, and in so doing limit the congestion.
When parking your vehicle please ensure that all belongings are locked in your boot and nothing is displayed inside the vehicle.
