Du Preez adds tough edge to Sharks - Gold
Updated | By Gareth Jenkinson
Cell C Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold believes new skills and attack coach Rob du Preez will add a different edge to the team's leadership.
Du Preez was the latest addition to the Sharks coaching team for the 2016 season.
The former Leopards, Pukke and College Rovers coach has been charged with honing skills and attack. Du Preez will also take the reigns of the Currie Cup side next season. Looking ahead to the Super Rugby season, Gold believes Du Preez will also add a sterner edge when it comes to dealing with the players.
"He brings a good edge, unbelievable knowledge, great attention to detail, fantastic ideas on attack and I really like his work ethic," Gold said. "As I said, he's got a nice edge about him, he's a no-nonsense guy and everybody knows where they stand and he's got a real passion for attack."
Gold believes the former Springbok and Natal scrumhalf's history in Durban will also help him fit in with the group.
"It's exciting. He's a Shark through-and-through. Obviously he played here and he's won trophies here and I think he's excited to be home - it's brilliant to have him."
