Dolphins claim crucial clash in Centurion
The Dolphins scored 120 for two in 16.5 overs to win the match in convincing fashion.
A second wicket partnership of 84 runs between Morne van Wyk (50 not out) and Cody Chetty (50) was enough to help the visitors stroll to a comfortable victory with 3.1 overs to spare.
Van Wyk fittingly hit the winning runs with a six to bring up his half century at the same time in the 17th over.
The best bowler for the Titans was Saeed Ajmal with figures 2/23 in four overs.
It was in contrast to the Titans innings who were in heaps of trouble early, and could only manage a highest partnership of 31.
The Titans got off to a stuttering start, and never really recovered. Henry Davids, Faf du Plessis and Heino Kuhn were all dismissed inside four overs with the score on 17. Davids played on for one in the first over off the bowling of Kyle Abbott.
The big wicket of Du Plessis followed. The Proteas batsman played across the line to a short-of-a-length delivery from Mthokozisi Shezi outside off, and was well caught at mid-on by Khaya Zondo.
The procession continued when Heino Kuhn chipped a Robbie Frylinck delivery straight to the bowler, who took an easy catch.
After a brief counterpunch innings of 17 from 19 balls, Roelof van der Merwe misjudged a straight delivery with an attempted sweep, and was bowled by Daryn Smit as the Titans were reduced to 46 for four after nine overs.
While partnerships were scarce, contributions from Farhaan Behardien (31) and Albie Morkel (34 not out) helped the Titans post a moderate total of 115 for seven in their 20 overs.
The Dolphins bowlers all chipped in, restricting the Titans, and it was Shezi who returned the best figures of 2/16 in his four overs. The Dolphins move to second on the log on 23 points, while the Titans remain fourth on 18 points.
