Cell C Sharks face up to six weeks without Jean Deysel.
The flanker has an ankle problem.
Better news for Sharks fans is the return of JP Pietersen, Frans Steyn and Willem Alberts.
They are all in contention to face DHL Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday night.
Kickoff at Newlands is scheduled for 19h10.
The Stormers have three wins from three starts in Vodacom SupeRugby this season.
