Dawn Dunn: Sharks too good on tour

Dawn Dunn: Sharks too good on tour

The boys have a really great record against the Blues, so the week leading up to the match was not really stressful for them.

There are also quite a few South Africans settled in Auckland, specifically North Harbour and I knew that they would come out to support the boys and they did.

Cell C Sharks CEO, John Smit, joined me in studio and we jointly predicted a win by 6. John also joked that he did not realise the secret to winning in Christchurch, was 14 men!! Little did we know, we would have a repeat.

The Ugly

The referee, Nick Briant (NZ), once again only watched 1 side. I am getting really fed-up of one-sided, totally biased, decision making. We are all still trying to figure out what poor Jannie got a yellow card for. I think that he is still trying to figure it out. Fransie was yellow carded for doing what the Blues were doing throughout the match. Furthermore, the try that was awarded by TMO Aaron Petersen (NZ), was miles forward. The commentators all agreed that it was forward. Incredibly, the try was awarded. It just boggles my mind.

The Awesome

My darling Sharkies!

The boys are starting to put the fear of God into their opponents ! Very soon, opposition teams are going to beg the ref to let the boys play with 15 men! I am still laughing at how rattled the Blues were. They could not throw a straight line-out! The boys totally dominated them at the breakdown. They were absolutely resolute on defence, it was incredible to see. They totally smother the opposition and pounce on mistakes, quickly turning errors into points. Our ‘Bizzie’ led from the front and muscled his way over for the first try of the match.  I just loved Fransie’s drop goal. The boys just shrugged off 2 yellow cards and klapped it!  They led throughout the match and at no point did the Blues look evenly remotely  dangerous. My Cobusie had his best game of the year and his inspired try had me singing and doing the boogie woogie! They are now the only SA side to win all the Vodacom SuperRugby matches played in NZ since 2010. The guys are just absolutely awesome. This journey from ‘Good to Great’,  has a new incredible chapter every week. The boys are starting to really believe in Carpe Diem…Seize the Day!

Opposition teams…Beware(pasop)!
