Dawn Dunn: Sharks rule!
Updated | By Staff Writer
A very sucky overall record of 43% success at home. I was delighted to hear that Israel Folau, (leading try scorer so far this year overall) would not be fit in time to play in Durbs for the Tahs.
Jake, and the coaching team had their work further cut-out for them with the amount of injuries after the Bulls clash.
Moving Mvovo from wing to fullback was just of the many changes in the starting XV. Questions were asked of the positional changes and the boys answered the critics in the best possible way.
The Bad
The Waratahs became very frustrated and allowed some very dirty play to creep in. They were heavily penalised by the ref and both our Freddie and Fransie made them very sorry by kicking flawlessly.
The Ugly
The Waratahs back, Horne has been cited for an ‘alleged punch’ on our Fransie. There was nothing alleged about it! Dave Dennis, (captain) of the Tahs showed very poor leadership by getting the only yellow card of the match. Our Fransie, has in turned been cited for a dangerous tackle. I think that this is absolute rubbish and the sooner they have the hearing and clear him, the better.
Shark’s Rule!
I just love the way the boys kept the scoreboard ticking over. They forced the Tahs to make mistakes and between Freddie and Fransie, we had a very healthy lead at half-time. The first try was in the second half off the back of a rolling maul with Kanko winning the honours. Second try was due to sheer determination by Keegan Daniel who ran over two defenders to jot down.
I am very sad to hear that Keegs is leaving, however, very pleased to see him play so very well. The boys dominated the collisions. I am particularly proud of our defence as we leaked only one try right at the end.
Kurtley Beale played in Durban last year wearing The Rebel’s jersey and the Sharks ran them ragged (10 tries)…..and I wonder if he had flashbacks during the match (snicker)!
The win was crucial as the boys go into a bye week and get some much needed rest. They remain top of the log and I am absolutely ecstatic as our home record is intact! I will be smiling and singing in studio tomorrow!
Onwards and upwards darling boys!
