CSA relieves Teeger of U-19 captaincy due to ‘safety concerns’

South Africa's Under-19 cricket skipper will not be leading the side in the men's World Cup taking place in this country from late next week.
Cricket SA says David Teeger has been relieved of the captaincy over security concerns.
In a statement on Friday afternoon, CSA says it took the decision after being advised that venues could be hit by potential protests related to the Israel-Hamas war.
In October, Teeger came out in support of young Israeli soldiers after being named a rising star at the Jewish Achievers Awards.
An independent inquiry was commissioned after the Palestine Solidarity Alliance complained.
The probe has since cleared Teeger.

CSA says the batter, who plays for the Gauteng Lions, will remain part of the South African squad for the tournament.
South Africa jumped in at the last minute to host the World Cup after the original hosts, Sri Lanka, were suspended by the International Cricket Board last year.
