Juan Mata netted the only goal at Old Trafford.
That is where Manchester United defeated Crystal Palace 1-0.
Southampton remain second after beating Leicester City 2-0 yesterday.
Shane Long scored both goals for the Saints.
Aston Villa and West Ham United drew goalless.
Burnley remain bottom.
This despite their 1-0 victory over Hull City.
Arsenal have a league date at Swansea City later today.
Kickoff is at six o'clock - South African time.
Jack Wilshere is back for the Gunners, while Mikel Arteta is out injured.
