Cheetahs make one change for Sharks
Updated | By Staff Writer
Free State Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské has made one change to his starting fifteen for this weekend’s Currie Cup fixture against the Sharks in Durban.
The 2,04m tall lock Lood de Jager returns to the starting lineup after missing out against Golden Lions last weekend due to concussion.
De Jager resumes in his more familiar role in the number for jersey with Waltie Vermeulen retaining his place to partner him in the locks. The strong ball carrier Oupa Mohoje moves to the bench.
Further changes to the squad have been made on the bench. Philip van der Walt starts off the bench with Davon Raubenheimer retaining his place in the starting fifteen after a strong and impressive performance during the sides 26-23 win over the men from Johannesburg last weekend.
AJ le Roux replaces Ethienne Reyneke at as the reserve hooker, with Hercu Liebenberg starting in the middle of the frontrow, while Schalk “Hond” van der Merwe comes in for former Currie Cup winner Wian du Preez.
Returning Springbok scrumhalf Piet van Zyl slots in on the bench in the place of Kevin Luiters who has impressed when coming onto the park. Van Zyl was earlier released earlier in the week by the Springboks to play Currie Cup rugby.
In the last change to the matchday squad, Springbok Sevens stalwart Rayno Benjamin returns after a long injury layoff which has prevented him from playing any Currie Cup rugby this season.
Benjamin replaces the young and talented Piet Lindeque.
Saturday’s match at Kings’ Park in Durban kicks-off at 15:00.
