Carr prominent in SupeRugby stats
The Vodacom Bulls shone in an otherwise disappointing Vodacom SupeRugby weekend for South African sides as the only victorious side of the six teams.
The DHL Stormers and Cell C Sharks can count themselves unlucky to not have been on the winning side losing their respective matches by two points.
Tries came in twos over the weekend with six players scoring a brace of tries each while the Jaguares’ Leonardo Senatore topping the try-scoring bracket with his hat-trick against the Southern Kings.
Bulls team-mates Adriaan Strauss and Jan Serfontein each scored two five-pointers in their side’s rampaging 42-20 away victory to the Force.
Stormers lock Pieter-Steph du Toit was beastly in his side’s 32-30 defeat to the Waratahs with Julian Savea and Cory Jane of the Hurricanes, and Nick Frisby of the Reds also scoring a brace each.
Wrecking ball Stormers flanker Nizaam Carr shared top spot in the Carries category with Brumbies talisman David Pocock with 16 each.
Kings flanker Thembelani Bholi and Bulls fullback SP Marais also made it into the top five sharing fourth place with four players with 13 carries.
Utility back Lukhanyo Am was in fine form in his side’s 73-27 annihilation to the Jaguares in Argentina.
The flyer made 127 running metres over the weekend which was only a metre less than Sefanaia Naivalu of the Rebels.
Am beat six defenders for a share of third place in this category with a host of other South African players, the Emirates Lions' Jaco van der Walt, Akker van der Merwe and Serfontein.
Bulls flanker Arno Botha lead in terms of Turnovers won with six, Ardie Savea of the Hurricanes with four and the Lions’ Jaco Kriel making three.
The Highlanders’ Thomas Franklin executed 23 tackles to lead the pack with the Bulls’ Lappies Labuschagne and Alex Ainley following in second place with 20 apiece.
Kings loosie CJ Velleman remains one of the top defenders this season ranking fifth this weekend along with Michael Hooper of the Waratahs with 15 tackles each.
