Banyana Banyana coach Joseph Mkhonza says he is pleased with the team's performance at the weekend, but admits there are some areas which still need improvement.

Banyana crushed Mozambique 5-0 in an international friendly played at Kanyamazane Stadium on Sunday and would come up against Zimbabwe on Saturday.

"I am very happy with the performance. The girls stuck to the game plan and even the new players were not overwhelmed by the international stage," Mkhonza said in a statement on Monday.

"There are, however, a few things we will need to work on before the match against Zimbabwe. Overall I am happy with what I saw."

Silindile Ngubane put Banyana in the lead when she scored a 37th minute goal and, from then on, it was one-way traffic as Mkhonza's charges turned on the heat.

Three minutes into the second half, an own goal was scored by Mozambique's Celia Uate, which gave Banyana a two goal lead.

Ngubane slotted in the third goal of the game after a great run down the right flank by former captain Amanda Dlamini.

Dlamini was instrumental in the team's fourth goal, setting up Nocawe Sikiti, who chipped the ball into the net.

And scoring the final goal to cement their victory, Dlamini picked up the player of the match award for her instrumental role.

"I felt my performance on the field was fine but I could have done better as there is always room for improvement," Dlamini said.

"The coaches have once again put their confidence in me and it is very humbling that I got to play my own game."
