All to play for on Saturday for the Sharks
Updated | By Nick Tatham
The Cell C Sharks will host Irish outfit Munster in the
Heineken Champions Cup last 16 this Saturday at Hollywoodbets Kings Park as the
KZN Rugby Union celebrates the second edition of Sharks Fest.
Last weekend the Sharks welcomed back their full-strength side for a Vodacom United Rugby Championship clash with the Scarlets, and despite their fire-power they fell to a disappointing defeat.
The large Springbok contingent at the Sharks were forced into a three week alignment camp which saw them absent from all domestic rugby so there is an idea that they might have been lacking match fitness last weekend.
“As a team we weren’t good,” captain Siya Kolisi said frankly. “We had a few good individual moments but as a team we didn’t do well and we were not happy with the standard.
“It was absolute nonsense that we put out there and we were really disappointed in ourselves and it’s one of those games that you make peace with.”

Following on from the disappointment in Wales, Kolisi and his team know that they cannot produce a performance like that against Munster as it’s knock-out rugby now.
“Each individual and the unit has to be better this weekend and we want to put in a better showing for our fans this weekend.
“We have to do better against a strong side like Munster who has done well in this competition so we are definitely motivated for this one.
“Also, it’s play-offs so if we lose, we are out. We want to make sure that we put in a proper performance and give ourselves a chance to qualify for the quarter-final.”
With Sharks Fest surrounding this crucial clash for the Sharks, Kolisi sees the activities that come with the festival as crucial to getting the fans behind the team.
“It will be a great atmosphere in the stadium because we’ve got Sharks Fest happening which will bring a lot of families come out to the stadium.
“My son is bringing 60 of his friends and their parents to the game and with the concert after the game it brings a different vibe to any other match,” the skipper mentioned.
The gates open at 10:30 with kick-off at 13:30 and tickets are available at sharksrugby.co.za or at the Sharks ticket office and start at R50.
