The Springboks defeated New Zealand 15-12 in the 1995 Rugby World Cup final at Ellis Park in Johannesburg 20 years ago today.

Another prominent memory is the presence of former statesman, Nelson Mandela at the game.

Madiba donned a Springbok cap and the number six jersey - known to belong to Springbok captain, Francois Pienaar.

After the final whistle, he presented the Webb Ellis trophy to the captain.

Joel Stransky, who kicked the winning drop goal, tweeted earlier saying he can't believe it's already been 20 years since the match.

Springbok and Sharks legend Andre Joubert tweeted that he was looking forward to re-living the moment with other world cup heroes.
