Zuma approached Ramaphosa to intervene in Downer matter: JZ Foundation
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Jacob Zuma Foundation says the former president took his complaints over the alleged leaking of his confidential medical records to the office of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi says they had hoped he'd intervene but.
"We have been waiting since August, there is not even an update report from the president that this is where I am with the matter."
At the Pietermaritzburg Police Station on Thursday, Zuma opened a criminal case against state prosecutor Billy Downer in his arms deal corruption case.
Zuma maintains that Downer is pursuing a personal agenda against him and strategically leaked some sensitive case information to the media.
Manyi says concerning their appeal for assistance, it seems the president's been dragging his feet.
"It it became apparent to president Zuma that Billy Downer has done this other shenanigan we reported this matters to the president.
"If the president of the country had done something by now, we wouldn't be here today. So we are here today because of those kinds of things."
Downer has denied the allegations in court.
Judgment in Zuma's application to have him removed from his corruption case is set to be handed down on Tuesday.
