Zikalala lays criminal complaint against Ngizwe Mchunu

KwaZulu-Natal police have confirmed they are investigating a criminal complaint laid by Premier Sihle Zikalala.
Zikalala's accusing Ngizwe Mchunu, a former Ukhozi FM presenter, of assault and crimen injuria following an incident at the Ingoma kaZwelonke Competition at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Mchunu told SABC News that at the event Zikalala questioned him about remarks he'd previously made on social media.
Mchunu claims the premier then assaulted him in full view of everyone, forcing him to retaliate.
Zikalala claims Mchunu attacked him without provocation.

"Mr Mchunu escalated this when he came over to the exclusive area where the Premier was seated, and started hurling insults at the Premier," says spokesperson Lennox Mabaso.
"As a result, people nearby had to intervene. With the aid of security personnel the Premier had to leave the event.
"As a public servant and private individual, the Premier reserves all rights applicable to him in terms of our Constitution. In this regard the Premier stands ready and is duty bound to exhaust all legal avenues to protect himself and the dignity of the office he occupies from unscrupulous and unwarranted attacks by individuals such as Mr Mchunu."
