Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A 32-year-old woman is due to make her first appearance in court on Friday in connection with the abduction of a newborn baby in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

According to the boy's mother, a woman offered to carry her child for her, shortly after she and her son were discharged from a hospital in Jozini last Tuesday.
They boarded a bus together.

They got off at a bus station, but while the 35-year-old mother was having something to eat, the stranger disappeared with her baby.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says they received intelligence this week that the woman took the child out of the province to Mpumalanga.
"The Jozini and Ermelo Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit were immediately contacted and the information was shared with them.
